Ebunoluwa Foundation

Empowering Orphans, Inspiring Hope, Creating a Brighter Future

For over 30 years, Ebunoluwa Foundation has been a beacon of hope and transformation for orphans and vulnerable communities. Although officially registered 25 years ago, our journey of compassion and impact began long before, rooted in a deep commitment to serving those in need.

Ebunoluwa Foundation was established to provide holistic support and opportunities to orphans, empowering them to overcome life’s challenges and build a brighter future. From education and healthcare to skill development and community initiatives, we have consistently worked to break the cycle of poverty and provide a foundation for sustainable growth and self-reliance.

At the core of our mission is the belief that every child deserves a chance to thrive. Through scholarships, mentorship programs, and life-enriching projects, we inspire hope and transform lives, one child at a time. Over the decades, Ebunoluwa Foundation has grown into a trusted organization, touching countless lives and leaving an indelible mark on the communities we serve.

Meet With The Team

The Ebunoluwa Foundation and its various projects are run by a small team of dedicated and passionate paid and volunteer professionals

Chief Mrs. Aino Ternstedt Oni-Okpaku was a visionary leader whose life and work have profoundly impacted the arts and vulnerable communities in Nigeria. Born in Sweden, Aino commenced her journey in the world of textile arts in 1962, earning her degree from the School of Arts and Crafts in Goteborg. That same year, she launched her own studio in Stockholm, establishing herself as a prominent textile and design artist. Aino’s passion for arts led her to further study in England, supported by a grant from the Association of Swedish Arts and Crafts.
In 1970, she relocated to the United States, where she was awarded a Fellowship from the American-Scandinavian Association and a Fulbright grant. Aino completed her master’s degree in fine arts with a major in textile arts at the California College of Arts and Crafts. Her dedication to her craft was recognized with a scholarship from the same institution and a research grant from the World Crafts Council, as well as the King Gustaf VI Adolf’s Foundation for Swedish Culture.
In 1973, Aino met her Nigerian husband, and together they moved to Nigeria. Following a two-year engagement with Godwin Hopwood Architectural Firm, she founded the Quintessence shop in Lagos, with the aim of nurturing her artistic expression while also supporting the rich tapestry of Nigerian arts and crafts. Her commitment extended beyond the arts. For 20 years, she served on the board of the Lagos State Motherless Babies Home, where she gained invaluable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing abandoned children in Nigeria. This experience fueled her passion, ultimately leading to the establishment of the Ebunoluwa Foundation, dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children.
Tragically, Chief Mrs. Aino Ternstedt Oni-Okpaku passed away on December 26, 2019, in Sweden. However, her vision and legacy continue to inspire our mission.
